Dr. Jeff & Elder Lisa Chandler
Dr. Jeff (Dr. J) & Elder Lisa Chandler are the pastors of Abiding Faith Ministries (AFM). Under their leadership, Abiding Faith works toward the ministry vision and mission of helping all to live Moment by Moment All by Faith, through daily prayer conference calls, podcasts, weekly virtual ministry worship moments, hosting annually the Radical Love Marriage Retreat, fostering ministry partnerships with other ministries and non-profit organizations to advance the work of kingdom ministry. The ministry also ministers to the needs of women and men through W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L. Wives and the Men’s Corner for the brothers. Most recently Pastors Chandler have led the efforts of establishing global outreach and ministry in Uganda, providing health, nutritional, educational, and spiritual support for a group of underserved women and children.
Reverend Doctor J. Allen Chandler
Reverend Doctor Jeffrey Allen Chandler is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and is the eldest son of Arjorie Chandler and the late Henry C. Chandler. He was educated in the Baltimore City public schools and graduated with honors from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1978 and attended Howard University as an undergraduate majoring in Chemistry. He earned a Masters of Divinity degree from the Howard University School of Divinity in May 2001. Reverend Chandler earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Lancaster Theological Seminary degree, focusing on pastoral and clergy self – care and burnout. His dissertation was entitled; “Discovering the “Why” of Clergy Self-care and Burnout: What Lies at the Root of Recurring Behavior Patterns of Pastoral Clergy that Results in Cyclical Returns to Familiar Experiences of Burnout.” Pastor Chandler plans to continue further this research and share his findings with his fellow pastoral clergy colleagues.
Reverend Doctor Chandler currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Abiding Faith Ministries, Upper Marlboro, Maryland in partnership with his wife Elder Lisa Chandler. Abiding Faith is a ministry community that operates ALL by FAITH: Advancing the Kingdom; Loving God and Others; Living each moment by FAITH!!! Reverend Doctor Chandler formerly served as the Administrative Pastor of the Shalom Ministries Christian Center, Fort Washington, Maryland, under the leadership of Bishop Florida T. Morehead. He is an ordained Elder in the Mount Calvary Holy Churches of America under the covering of Archbishop Alfred A. Owens, Jr. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of City or Peace Enterprises Inc., the nonprofit Community Development Corporation and outreach arm of Shalom Ministries. Reverend Chandler has served the community and the Kingdom of God in various capacities: as an adjunct professor at the National Bible College and Seminary in Fort Washington, MD; a member of the Biblical Institute for Social Change, the Network of Church Administrators, the Howard University School of Divinity and Howard University Alumni Associations, and an active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.; Secretary to the Mother Pearl Alumni Association; Chair to the Prince George’s County Local Development Council and as an advocate, ministry partner and supporter to various local nonprofit and ministry organizations
In December 2020, Pastor Chandler released his first published work of prayers and inspirational words of encouragement entitled A Journey to Kingdom Destiny…One Prayer Can Change Everything, published through Covenant Books and available through various outlets.
Pastor Chandler is a devoted husband to his wife, Elder Lisa, and father to Brandon Colin and Jadyn Atira and grandfather to Kymani Alexander. He is a voracious reader with an eclectic taste for music and an avid golfer when he finds the time to relax.
Reverend Doctor Chandler has accomplished many things and received numerous awards in his lifetime, but he feels that the most important thing for you to know about him today is that he is grateful and thankful to God, and is often amazed at what God can and will do despite oneself. He firmly believes that God is truly a God of RESTORATION…and that is his TESTIMONY!!!
Elder Lisa M. Chandler
Elder Lisa Chandler is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was educated in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Langley High School. She pursued her undergraduate education at Howard University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Most recently, she earned a Master of Arts degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in May 2008. In March 2003 she became a licensed minister of the Gospel and began serving on the ministerial team at Shalom Ministries Christian Center (Ft. Washington, MD), and in May 2012 was ordained an Elder by the Mount Calvary Holy Church of America. Lisa served on the ministerial team at Zion Church (Landover, MD) from 2014-2020 and now focuses her service to the ministries at Abiding Faith Ministries.
Lisa has a burning desire to assist people in discovering the beauty, unique gifting, purpose, tenacity, greatness, and POWER that God has placed in each of us. She and her husband Dr. Jeffrey Allen Chandler have organized Abiding Faith Ministries, Inc. (AFM), a community ministry that ministers to men, women, and families, ALL BY FAITH! Within AFM Lisa has established W.O.N.D.E.R.FU.L. Wives, a ministry that promotes sisterhood, support, and marital success by providing a forum for married women to share the joys and challenges of being a wife, while also supporting one another as they journey through the various seasons of womanhood and marriage. Also through AFM, Lisa’s vision of a retreat to encourage, equip, and empower couples to experience Radical Love in their relationships came to fruition. The annual Radical Love Marriage Retreat has presented workshops and activities to spark new levels of love, FUN, and passion into marriages since 2015.
Lisa’s greatest joy is doing life with Dr. Jeff, being the mother of Brandon and Jadyn, and grandmother of Kymani. She understands that each of them is a gift to her directly from the hand of the Father.
God continuously performs miraculous feats in Lisa’s life. She strives to take the limits off her thinking and truly walk by faith and not by sight, so that she can experience all that God has planned for her life. She lives each day embracing the truth of Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto HIM that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh in us…” and she looks forward with expectation to what God shall continue to do in her and through her.
