Why "THE EXPERIENCE"?
Song of Solomon describes a couple’s Experience of one another’s love. They have fun together and never run out of admirable words to describe one another. They kiss passionately and according to chapters 4 & 5 their intimate adventures are hallelujah hot! The depth and strength of their love penetrates their hearts and brings out the best in them. In chapter 8 verse 14 in The Passion Translation they conclude their story by declaring together, “Forever we shall be united as one!”
We believe that love stories like this are not limited to the pages of the Bible, but are still being written today.
Radical Love Marriage Retreat 2023 – THE EXPERIENCE will create opportunities for you to write new chapters in your love story. There will be workshops, activities, and challenges to encourage you to EXPERIENCE your spouse’s love, and several opportunities to just have fun.
Join us November 9-13, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, MD.
Eight represents new beginnings and we believe that in this 8th annual Radical Love gathering God is going to bless us with new Experiences in our marriages that will cause us to lovingly gaze into our spouse’s eyes and declare…“I know my lover is mine and I have everything in you, for we delight ourselves in each other.” (Song of Solomon 2:16 TPT)
Hotel & Registration
Hotel is reserved separately at a reduced rate of $179/night (regular rate $277/night – taxes/fees additional). Please reserve your rooms early to ensure availability. No payment is due at time of reservation.
As the retreat date approaches we will share more detail about the Planned EXPERIENCES. In the meantime, please invite other couples! We are expanding and will be in a ballroom this year! Planned EXPERIENCES
Our planned experiences will begin on Friday evening and end on Sunday morning, but our discounted room rates begin on Thursday and run through Monday for couples desiring more time to enjoy one another and the resort. Upon check-in couples will receive a dossier containing challenges and suggested EXPERIENCES that can be enjoyed independently. Planned EXPERIENCES will include:
- Friday Fun Night - includes light fare and an upbeat activity that will start the weekend with a bang.
- Saturday Workshop EXPERIENCE - featuring our speakers - breakfast & lunch included.
- Date Night EXPERIENCE - special musical guest Marcus Johnson, followed by DJ Wiggs - gourmet dinner included.
- Sunday Worship EXPERIENCE.
Our Hosts
Dr. Jeff (Dr. J) & Elder Lisa Chandler are the pastors of Abiding Faith Ministries (AFM) and hosts of The Radical Love Marriage Retreat (RLMR). They hosted the first RLMR in 2015 fueled by their desire to create a safe space to explore marital challenges, equip couples to take their marriages to the next level, and encourage couples to hold on to one another throughout every season of marriage. Initially they thought the retreat was a 1-and-done, but every year the vision expands and in this 8th year they are expecting couples to have a Song of Solomon EXPERIENCE in their marriages during and for years after the retreat.
Our Guest Speakers
Dr. Johnny and Lezlyn Parker are relationship architects who help couples build marriages that flourish. They are the founders of The Parker Group, LLC which provides leadership/ relationship development and coaching. They have spoken nationally for Family Life’s “Weekend to Remember” marriage conferences for over 10 years and have served as life coaches (chaplains) of the Washington Redskins and Washington Mystics. Most recently, Johnny and Lezlyn have served as relationship coaches to the Pittsburgh Steelers players and their wives.
They help professional athletes (NFL, NBA, WNBA) cultivate healthy inner lives and strong relationships. They have spoken on cruises with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Black and Married with Kids. Lezlyn is a certified life coach and is a contributing author of Girl, Get Your Fight Back. She is also a former Mary Kay Consultant and coaches women in inner and outer beauty. She enjoys traveling, reading, walking, decorating, and frequent shopping expeditions. Johnny oversees the counseling and men’s ministries at First Baptist Church of Glenarden and he is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University where he teaches Positive Psychology. In addition to his marriage enrichment work, he provides leadership development, consulting, and executive coaching to Fortune 500 organizations. He is the author of Renovating Your Marriage and Turn the Page: Unlocking the Story Within You. Dr. Johnny and Lezlyn recently realized their latest book Keeping Intimacy Sweet and Simple, Kissing Your Way to Marital Bliss.
Our Musical Guest
Marcus Johnson is an independent Billboard-ranked musician, NAACP Image Award nominee, owner of FLO Brands and FLO Wine, JD and MBA, philanthropist, father, friend… and so much more! Mr. Johnson will be featured during our Saturday evening date night EXPERIENCE.
Our DJ
We missed DJ Wiggs last year, but he’s back in 2023! He has delighted Radical Love Marriage Retreat couples for 6 of our 8 years and will surely keep us dancing, singing, and “Soul Train lining” throughout our Date Night Experience.
